Responsibilities

  • Being a leader who models excellence in all areas of their operation; from customer service standards and professional positive communication, to ensuring quality standards and great department conditions
  • Oversees meat department operations and management, including scheduling, gross profit, productivity, budgeting, inventory, ordering, shrink control, and reporting
  • Trains, supervises and evaluates all meat department staff
  • Responsible for holding staff accountable and having the communication, coaching, and mentoring skills to do so
  • Orders meat products and supplies
  • Responsible for meat processing and merchandising, according to merchandising guidelines
  • Protects the health and safety of all department members and ensures department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met
  • Participates as a member of the Store Operating Committee. Creative, solution oriented approach to problem solving and change
  • Keeps current and accurate order guides for all vendors

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to model and inspire excellent, professional customer service
  • Journey level meat cutter; extensive experience in all aspects of retail meat operations including product knowledge, ordering, processing, merchandising and sanitation
  • Must have a valid and current meat cutting license and food handler’s permit
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and inventorying procedures; ability to apply this knowledge to meet set standards of performance
  • Demonstrated short and long term organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent leadership, teambuilding, problem solving and communication skills
  • Skilled in coaching and accountability
  • Computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office products and file management
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of position including standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and lifting up to 60 plus lbs.
  • Background in retail natural foods industry and a passion for food and its preparation preferred
